Walking in Costa Calida and the Southern Costa Blanca

The Costa Calida is based at the Southern end of Costa Blanca - near to Alicante, La Manga and the Mar Menor. There is lots of walking in Costa Calida along good footpaths. The area has diverse scenery from beautiful mountains, rising to over 5000 feet, to stunning coastline protected from development.

Climate and When to Go

The climate of the Costa Calida is one of the best in Spain with fantastic walking year round. The best months are from September all the way through the Winter to May/June. In December you can have a week of bright sunny skies when you can walk in a T-shirt.  In July and August it can be too hot to walk, although if you head up into the mountains and walk in some of the beautiful woodland it can be a nice break from the heat of the coast.

There are many national trails in the region which are well signposted and offer some quality walks. The walking guide book contains a selection of short walks or longer day walks and  many of the walks are circular for easy access and more interest. The book is based around a number of locations including Cartagena and Murcia, and the Sierra Espuna National Park. There are walks near to La Manga Club and the Mar Menor.
